Why is eating a couple of oranges better than drinking orange juice?

When we juice an orange, the fiber is removed from the fruit and all that’s left is a concentrated hit of fructose (fruit-based sugar). Eating oranges is a healthier option as the fiber in the fruit will help reduce the rate at which this sugar needs to be processed by your digestive system.

The fiber from the orange, when consumed, remains as fiber even as it travels through your digestive tract because human stomachs don’t produce enzymes to break it down. Although fiber does not provide glucose, the energy source for our cells, it plays a very important role in digestion, healthy bowel movements, and maintaining the microbiome balance in our gut.

Consequently, eating a whole fruit instead of drinking it in the form of a juice is always the healthier option.
